Ok...
Now on to the fun:
Now on to the fun:
I have to start off with saying-- while I really liked this episode-- it is probably my least favorite to date. I had my favorite parts, but I think over all I was bored with the episode because there was no BIG reveal like previous episodes, or if there was, I had already sort of figured it out..
Really I have 3 questions:
a) Who's hand was that reaching for Violet in the beginning of the episode? Upon further thought-- it could have just been Hayden's hand, and then no cause for concern. OR could it be a new ghost we haven't met yet? Here's hopin'!
b) Does Tate know he's dead? I think the answer is no. He genuinely doesn't seem to know the jocks who are after him on Halloween. He also genuinely seems to be falling in love with Violet. When he can't mess around with Violet on the beach be blames the meds-- is that just an excuse or does he really not understand what is happening to him?
I mean he is dead.. right?
Adding to my argument from the last blog--
- Tate really only talks about 4 things: 1) High school 2) the importance of family; never hurting the people close to you 3)Kurt Cobain 4)Violet
Ghosts dwell on their unfinished business.. which is why they can't move on into the next world… more of an argument that Tate is dead? I think so.
- Also the teenagers talk about how they've been waiting for Tate for years, but that he's been hard to find because he "likes mommy's little safe house".
The big question is why does Tate not remember what happened? Was his "vision" a reality?
c) Is Larry actually dead? Here is my logic on this one: Hayden is able to ride in the Rent a cop's car all the way to the police station and then disappear-- I don't think it was still halloween when she in the car-- it was the next morning. SO with that thinking-- just because we've seen Larry off the house grounds.. doesn't mean he isn't dead. He has a strong understanding of the dead and how that world works. Halloween has also brought out a different side of Larry then we've seen in the other episodes. He is suddenly blood hungry and volunteers to help Hayden take care of Vivien. When we first met him, he was so ashamed of himself and regretful. What's changed? Or is he REALLY a good actor and was faking all along (maybe he should get those $1000 head shots!)
A few more points to ponder/ things I loved--
*Ben saying that he will not leave the house or give up on the family. These words seem to echo Chad and the other ghosts-- *FORESHADOWING??*
*Ben is also so narrow-minded that he can't come to the conclusion that Hayden is dead on his own. I mean REALLY when she at the front door-- how could you think she is anything BUT dead (she looked TERRIBLE!)
*I love/get so frustrated that some of the "clues" on this show are just hand fed to the characters, but they STILL don't get it that everyone around them is pretty much dead.. I guess that that is just part of the genre.. and I mean if this was happening in real life my first thought wouldn't be "OH-- you must be a ghost". I'd probably try to rationalize too.
*3 of my favorite scenes: When the ghosts are running amuck in the house (there were like 5 at once!), When the ghosts come back to the house from a crazy Halloween night and ((DRUM ROLL PLEASE)) Constance putting make up on Addy in the morgue.. I mean seriously people, can we just give Jessica the Emmy NOW?
Final point to ponder:
*Nora Montgomery coming to Ben's rescue in the basement. She says "How can you allow that ghoul to take the only thing that gives your pathetic life any meaning at all. I will not permit another failure in this house-- SAVE THE BABY" What is the meaning of that thing growing inside Vivien? The house obviously has some stake in that child/it.
So excited for tmrw night and the debut of Eric Stonestreet! Check out this link to see the preview!
ps. Notice that Jamie Brewer is listed on this weeks episode-- DID ADDY MAKE IT TO THE LAWN IN TIME?!?! hopefully we'll find out!
Happy watching!
It will be interesting to see exactly how Tate died. Assuming he is dead, of course. Because his ghost resides at the murder house, he must've died there and didn't kill himself at the school shooting, or wasn't killed by the police or something.
ReplyDeleteOne of my overall burning questions: why is Moira special? She is the only ghost who ages! Tate should look 30, the twins 40, Nora Montgomery much, much older, etc. Then again, it seems Moira only appears old to women...
Nicely done, Jesse! I think Tate knows he's dead because he wanted to take Violet out on a real date on Halloween b/c it's the night where ghosts can roam free (Moira went to see her mother) because I thought Tate was stuck at the murder house and his mother's for some reason. Then again, Hayden riding in the cop car punches a hole in that theory. I think him not remembering the dead teenagers was because it's a repressed memory. In therapy with Ben, he talks about it as though it's a fantasy. I believe in the pilot, it showed an image of the shooting in his head. It is reality and not just a mere fantasy. Ben is also lead to believe it's a violent fantasy. A quick google search by Violet can point to the fact that it did (or didn't) happen.
ReplyDeleteTo answer the above poster's question, Moira only appears young to Ben because it sates his sexual desires (or it's playing the idea that men see what they want to see/women see reality). I'm curious to see if the cop/security guard would see her as young or old. I also think if the ghosts can conjure up a bathtub full of water in the basement, the fact that that Moira can change her age doesn't bother me lol. Logic has to go out the window here. I'm glad the creators took the approach of keeping the dead kids the same age as the time of their deaths. To me, kid ghosts are much more creepier than adult ghosts for some reason. Keep 'em coming, Jesse! :-)
