How many shows stand between me and an empty fridge? |
The problem, though, is that I've been away for so long that I'm not regularly writing about anything. Which is a big problem for a recapper guy.
The solution: a bullet-point rundown of what's on my DVR and in my Hulu queue! It's very instructive, because having less TV time means you start to appreciate which shows you actually care about. And this seems the closest to any objective point-of-view I can really have on grading such widely different shows.
And so, without further ado: the queue!
Sundays:
Once Upon a Time
Fridge status - Watched off the DVR as soon as I'm home, or watched live. Maybe it's not the best show I watch week to week, but it always has my attention and curiosity.
Revenge
Fridge status - Like Once, I'll watch it as soon as I'm able to, because, God help me, I'm hopelessly addicted to Hamptons soap opera. Also, anyone who questions whether or not soap scenery-chewing can reach levels high enough to be considered "art", just watch Henry Czerny have at it. It's beautiful.
Downton Abbey
Fridge status - Usually sits in the DVR a couple of days before I watch. I'm just not as compelled as I used to be, but I stick with it. Bates' boring prison subplot and the misuse of Lady Sybil irk me.
Mondays:
How I Met Your Mother
Fridge status - The show has seen far better days, but I'm sentimental about it and usually watch it as soon as it's on the DVR.
Bunheads
Fridge status - Watch on DVR immediately. Hey, have y'all heard of Bunheads? It's this totally charming ABC Family comedy starring Sutton Foster, from the creator of Gilmore Girls! They talk really fast and the town is quirky! I love a good hidden gem, and this is very much both of those things.
Bones
Fridge status - I let it pile up in my Hulu queue for the rain day that I run out of everything else.
Castle
Fridge status - Same as Bones, for when I run out of episodes of Bones.
Tuesdays:
Raising Hope
Fridge status - Sitting in a big pile on Hulu, good for binging when I don't have other stuff.
Ben and Kate
Fridge status - Recently watched mostly out of my Hulu queue. I want to keep up better now, because it's adorable.
New Girl
Fridge status - Immediately watched off DVR, usually same night.
The Mindy Project
Fridge status - Once I caught up from the Hulu queue, I now watch quickly. Took a while to grow on me, and ultimately did.
Happy Endings
Fridge status - I let them pile up on Hulu or the DVR, and watch a couple at a time.
Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23
Fridge status - Recently did a big catch up, and has improved a lot in season 2 (when they actually air real s2 episodes and not leftovers from season 1). Recommitted to watching as they air.
Wednesdays:
Suburgatory
Fridge status - Just did a big Hulu binge. Want to watch more regularly, but I'll probably end up watching like two or three at a time. It's a show that bounces between OK and VERY funny a lot.
Nashville
Fridge status - Enjoyed the pilot a lot, and haven't watched a damn episode since. They're all in the Hulu queue.
Thursday
30 Rock
Fridge status - The final season has me back in a regular viewing habit after a long time of letting them pile up. It's really good again this year, and makes me realize how much I'll miss it.
Parks and Recreation
Fridge status - Immediate viewing off DVR. My favorite show right now.
The Office
Fridge status - Back to immediate viewing after a couple off-years. The final season is really stepping things back up.
1600 Penn
Fridge status - Still feeling this one out. Right now I'm still giving it a shot the next day on Hulu.
Person of Interest
Fridge status - Damn CBS doesn't put shows online, so I have to DVR it, and I have to watch them sporadically to clear space. Very low priority that I nonetheless just can't seem to quit.
Archer
Fridge status - I watch this off the DVR so fast that it's almost like I watch it before it aired.
Fridays:
Fringe
Fridge status - Just aired its series finale. I cried. I'll miss this weird little show.
Grimm
Fridge status - Big ol' pile on Hulu. I get in a groove with this one, but really stop caring when I'm not watching it.
What's in your fridge?
